I’m having a problem submitting my beat. I keep getting an error message :No verification code generated. I’ve filled out more then one verification code and its still giving me the error.

David Whiteside November 3, 2009 at 11:29 pm

Hi Big Z, The beat has to be in .mp3 format, and all the fields filled out. If it isn’t working still can you send us an email at info@p5audio.com and we’ll get it sorted out.

Ounces,
The three winners will be posted on this page on November 20th. The beats are all being submitted to a top secret private folder, and there is no way to hear them until we post the winners. Good luck!

Marcus Manderson November 4, 2009 at 10:11 am

I hope you got my submission. I try to do at least one contest a month and this one was my chosen one for this month. LOL. I like the track I came up with using the samples. Are we allowed to shop the track around (commercially) after the competition? Can we also use the samples for our own uses (i.e. making other tracks to sell or license)? Thanks for this opportunity!…

B. Blain November 4, 2009 at 3:17 pm

Yo Dave,

When I download the zip file it seems to download correctly, but when I got to extract it through WinRar it says its a corrupt or damaged zip file. Do you have any idea whats going on?

David Whiteside November 5, 2009 at 12:23 am

Hi Marcus,
It’s your beat bro! You can do whatever you want with it. By submitting it to us you give us the right to post it on our site in the event that it wins.
And, we did get your submission. Look forward to listening.

Benjamin Fritsch November 5, 2009 at 6:10 am

Just uploaded my beat, looking forward to hear projects from the other producers. Good luck on your new blog too P5audio ;)

Kuksi November 5, 2009 at 7:24 am

One more question. Do we need to use samples from all 4 packs, cuz i don’t really need guitars for my beat, but if we must use all, i’ll work something out. Just hate to be disqualified. : )

Aziatico November 5, 2009 at 10:11 am

Can we enter the competition even we are not from US right??

Anyways great competition!!!! keep it up and good luck!

David Whiteside November 5, 2009 at 12:57 pm

@ Aziatico You can enter the competition from anywhere in the Universe!
@Benjamin – Thanks man! We look forward to hearing it.

David Whiteside November 5, 2009 at 12:58 pm

@Kuksi – you have to use something from all four packs. So you have to work the guitars in somehow.

Marcus Manderson November 5, 2009 at 11:55 pm

Thanks!….

HiBeats November 7, 2009 at 1:52 am

Hey David could you please confirm you’ve recieved my entry. I think I might have accidentally uploaded it twice. If so, the latest one I uploaded is the one I wanted to submit.

Also let me know if you want the project files.

Prime Example November 7, 2009 at 12:40 pm

Hi, just wanted to know if we are allowed to add our own elements to the beat that we enter into the contest. Are we limited to using the sounds you give us or can we add our own flavor to the beat? (i.e making my own bassline to add to the track with sounds that i have stocked in my musical production catalog)

kingz November 7, 2009 at 1:57 pm

YO I JUST UPLOADED MY TRACK,I PUT ALOT OF TIME INTO IT I HOPE YOU GUYS LIKE IT.CAN SOME ONE FROM YOUR STAFF PLEASE GIVE ME A CONFORMATION E MAIL TO LET ME KNOW THAT YOU ALL HAVE IT

David Whiteside November 7, 2009 at 2:00 pm

Hi Prime Example: No, you can ONLY USE THE SOUNDS WE PROVIDE!! Download them from the link above. Or here is the link:
DOWNLOAD SOUNDS HERE
Or if you can’t download them for some reason, let us know.
Good luck!

David Whiteside November 7, 2009 at 2:04 pm

HiBeats: Got them both. We will erase the first one and use the second one.

UDot: Good luck man!

Prime Example November 7, 2009 at 4:12 pm

One more question for me…….do we have to give a list of the sounds we used or will you guys recognize them? I appreciate the help.

David Whiteside November 7, 2009 at 4:14 pm

Yo Prime,

If we don’t recognize something we will contact you to give us a brief run down of how you made the sound.

kingz November 7, 2009 at 5:30 pm

IF YOU DONT recognize SOMETHING WILL YOU CONTACT US TO FIND OUT WHAT WE DID TO THE SOUND

David Whiteside November 7, 2009 at 6:10 pm

Kingz,

Yes we will.

Prime,

If you’re going to put in a bass line, you have to cut the sample from the sounds we provided and throw it into your sampler. Make sense?

DEDOu November 7, 2009 at 6:35 pm

Ounces November 10, 2009 at 7:22 pm

Just sent mine in, first time it said it didnt work (using crome browser) so i went over to IE and it think i went thru, hope ya like it

Audiocity November 10, 2009 at 8:01 pm

Hey hey… Props for the contest, I had a real blast doing this – 2 minutes is a bit challenging when you’re used to doing 6 min tunez! Anyways, I had some probs getting my track up too, hope you got it…

Star Sweeper November 10, 2009 at 8:36 pm

damn that Chrome browser! I have so many probs with it! But I hate IE as well. cant win win for losing! And Firefox…. welll— it doesnt open crap because of security ticket verifications….. ugh. I turn to my mac for surfing these days. :)

After this contest is all said and done, I would like to hear what other people did. would it be too difficult to make these entries public for all to hear? As for now, I do enjoy the element of surprise of not knowing what others are doing. Brings on the heat, a little
