If you are new to Garageband one of the most important things you need to know for your music production is how to import sounds into Garageband.
You have probably been out shopping for loops at a site like www.p5audio.com. Once you have picked out and downloaded your loops, you will need to import them into Garageband in order to produce. Many sample sound companies offer Apple Loops as one of the formats they offer. This is the best choice for you if you are using Garage Band. Apple Loops are specifically formatted .aiff files that will shrink or stretch to fit your exact project tempo. They will also change pitch to match the key of your project! This makes music production much easier.
Step 1: Download your Apple Loops
Step 2: Open Garage Band and create a new project.
Step 3: Go to the Finder and locate the apple loops you want to import.
Step 4: Drag them all the way to the left of the project and drop them in, or, if you want them to start anywhere else other than the beginning of the track, drag them to the measure you want them.
That’s it! Watch the video below to see the import and how to change the tempo and key of your Garage Band project.
