PenUP is a monthly songwriter networking event aimed at bringing some of music’s best and brightest upcoming and established songwriters along with music industry executives to one central location to discuss trends in the industry and upcoming placement opportunities. This event will highlight past and future works of Los Angeles based songwriters as well as provide ongoing education in the form of panels, open topic discussions with industry insiders and create invaluable networking opportunities. The run of the event will be as follows:
7:00 PM – 7:15 PM Networking Arrival
7:15 PM – 7:45 PM Education – Speaker Followed by Short Q&A
7:45 PM – 8:30 PM Songwriter Presentation
8:30 PM – 9:15 PM To The Topline Challenge
9:15 PM – 10:00 PM Post Networking The songwriter education portion will feature industry executives in the field of songwriting, production, publishing, and music supervision. Through this guidance, songwriters should be able to further their careers. Following the discussion there will be a 15 minute Q&A.
The songwriter presentation is the area where selected songwriters will be able to play material for open projects and A&R’s, Music Supervisors, and Publishers in attendance.
The To The Topline Challenge is the presentation of the winner and outstanding contestants from the single song publishing deal offered by our publishing sponsor Ole Music Publishing.

“Enter With A Song Leave With A Deal”
Ole is proud to join forces with the prestigious PenUP Songwriter Network to bring The ole “To The Topline” Challenge to the next wave of talented young songwriters and producers. Submit up to three (3) songs here for consideration. Each month representatives from Pen Up and ole will listen to each of the songs. From those submitted, one song may be chosen as the winner. The writer(s) of the winning song will be awarded a single song publishing deal and a $500 recoupable cash advance. Each song must be at least 50% owned alone or collectively by the people entering the challenge. Songs also cannot contain samples and must be 100% original. Each song submitted must include all the writer’s names, their corresponding percentage splits, contact information. Writers must also be in attendance of the event when a winner is announced to eligible to received the publishing deal.

This sounds like a cool thing to attend, unfortunately there are too many miles between addresses (4000+ to be exact). If you ever do this in Philly I would gladly attend, best of luck.
@Brian – If you’re ever in LA during PenUp, definitely attend! Although I bet they will start doing a tour of this showcase sometime soon. And I’m guessing they will start in Philly, since the founder Sean Beastley, is from there!
