We talked to Mike Moses (featured in video below), head of Hi-Rize Entertainment, who is hosting the live beat battle. He tells us why events like these are so important for producers to attend. Read the interview below…
P5: What up Mike! How’s life treating you?
MM: Life is great@!! i am very hyped about my beat battle coming up march 25 in new york city.. Its going to be a blast.
P5: Before we get to the live beat competition, tell us a little bit about yourself, and Hi-Rize Entertainment…
MM: I am a music producer classically train from the age of 3. I work from my beautiful brooklyn studio making the hottest beats in the world…hi-rize entertainment started in 2002 in the college dorm room upstate Oneonta new york. I wanted to bring together like minded individuals that loved music and was passionate about the arts…. back that i focused on artist now i now i opened it up to producers… i started the beat battle in 2007.. there was so many showcases for artist but a few for producers…i wanted to fill the gap….its really paying off right now with all the reviews and happy producers i work with on a daily basis…
P5: So what’s going to be happening at the Live Urban Music Beat Battle in NYC this month?
MM: Its going to be crazyyy!!!!! major proucers and labels will be there to judge up and coming producers and at the end of the night we are giving away $500 and prizes from P5Audio and bangin beats…it will be in the lowereastside of manhattan…
P5: Got any VIPs attending the event, our readers need to know about?
MM: We have Illmind and many major producers and labels.
P5: Why is it so important for producers to enter live beat battles?
MM: it creates and new avenue and new outlet for them to get expose to the industry… its better than giving out your CD and nobody listening to it..it usually goes in the gargabe.. these producers get special attention and recognition…..
P5: Tell us some success stories from your past beat battles…
MM: Paro Paro beats got a call from one of the labels to submit some tracks to some of the major labels…they won most of the beat battles.
P5: If a producer wants to sign up, how much does it cost and what does he or she need to do?…
MM: We dont go crazy with the pricing and its well worth it because its priceless….we charge $50 for solo producer and more if you have a group..$80 for duo and $90 for trio….etc
P5: Does it cost anything to attend as an audience member?
MM: $15 with your tickets and $25 without tickets…
P5: And is there any additional information folks need to know about?
MM: Hot 97 dj astro will be on the ones and two…ill be there MIKEMO super promoter/prodcuer….. we also have the lovely host Rochelle, we call her Nuroq… bring all your friends lets have a nice time…
